Today we introduce you to the beauty of St. Martin’s Island in Bangladesh. St. Martin’s Island is the only coral island in the Bangladesh. The Coordinates of the island are 20°37'45.64"N, 92°19'29.00"E and the Country of this island is Bangladesh and the division is Chittagong Division, and the districts is Cox’s Bazar District. St. Martin’s Island is the only coral island in Bangladesh which is in the northeast part of the Bay of Bengal. It is about 9 km south of the tip of the Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf peninsula and 8 km west of the northwest coast of Myanmar. St. Martin’s is the most beautiful place in Bangladesh like as Cox’s Bazar, Bandarban, Khagrachari, Rangamati, Chittagoang etc.

St. Martin’s Island is a small Island, but it is perfect for tourist who is truly interested in escaping the hold of a modern life. It is possible for you to walk around the island in a day because it measures only 8 km. This island is also called “Chera Dwip” because of the surrounding coral reef of the island.

The main attraction of St. Martin’s Island is:

Coral: Coral reefs are the world’s most spectacular and amazing underwater environments. There is a beautiful sandy beach on the St. Martin’s Island. St. Martin Island is abundant in corals and the surrounding coral reef of the island has an extension named “Chera Dweep”. Coral communities in St. Martin extend to about 200m offshore with the maximum coral cover of 7.4% and a colony density of 1.3m to 2.0 m. These comprise 66 coral species, of which 36 are living corals, 11 are soft corals and 19 are fossil corals. This coral is looking black and this beach is also known as ‘Rocky Beach’. These corals are very attractive to the tourists.

Sun Rising: Rising Sun is the main attraction of St. Martin’s Island. One can be able to visible best sight of the sun rising from here. Every morning many tourists gather here to enjoy this beauty. When the light of the sun falls in the sea during rising moment this scenery is very attractive to the tourists. The tourist enjoy the moments with their near and dears and sometime some of them are singing a song of their favorite singers which songs are related to the sun or light.

Sun-Setting: You can also enjoy the sun-setting in the St. Martin’s Island. To enjoy it better you have to present in the island because sea glowing red during the sun setting moment. It may take ten or twenty minutes for setting. Many tourists and local people gather here to enjoy the beauty of a sunset. The tourists take photos of beautiful sceneries with various styles. Walking through Island: Walking through St. Martin Island is very interesting because of the beach is sandy. As St. Martin’s Island is not very large you can walk through the whole island and enjoy the beauty of this island and Bay of Bengal. During walking beside the island the gentle air of the Bay of Bengal flows through your body will refresh your mind and you feel that you are in the Heaven. This fantastic moment you can’t forget in your life. As the main job of the local people is fishing, here you can eat delicious fried fish from the seller during walking which is very interesting for the tourists.

Narikel Jinjira: The local name of this island is “Narikel Jinjira” or "Narical Gingira". It’s meant an Island of Coconut. This named Narikel Gingira because on St. Martin’s Island has many coconut trees which make this island more beautiful these trees protect the St. Martin’s Island from many natural disasters like cyclones, Tornado, Tsunami, etc. The most interested topic is you can relax in the beach with a sweet coconut because coconut is available here.

On the beautiful St. Martin’s Island you have to maintain some rules which provided by Bangladesh Government. That is given below: “We have to keep this beautiful coral island neat & clean. This ground water level in this island is very close to the surface. So the water can easily get contaminated by open defecation and result in spreading water borne diseases like diarrhea. A study showed that the water of this area contains germs 100 folds more than that of normal level. Please dispose of all kinds of wastes in the dustbins kept in different places. Your support is truly required to maintain the biodiversity of this island.”

Dhaka to Teknaf: To reach St. Martin’s firstly you have to reach Teknaf or Cox’s Bazar or Chittagong. Though by airlines and train you can reach Chittagong, but by bus you can reach Cox’s Bazar or Teknaf very easily. We will try to give you some information about transport.

By Bus: If you want to go to St. Martin by bus you have to go first Teknaf. There are lots of bus services here from Dhaka to Teknaf. Teknaf to St. Martin’s:

From the Teknaf jetty you can find many ships of St. Martin’s Island like as an Eagle, MV Farhan, Rangabali, Kutubdia, Keyari Sindabad etc., but from these ships Keari Sindabad is the best and only tourist friendly ship transportation service for the St. Martin tour and this ship have enough safety equipment for the tourist during the journey of this route. Every day during the tourist season this ship beginning from Teknaf at 09:30 AM and retire from St. Martin at 03:00 PM. A round trip ticket is 450 taka per person and also book from Dhaka. Don’t worry if you miss the ship. You can use Trawler by 100 taka per person or hire speed boat which is costly. Today we discuss about Inani beach which is the most popular and attractive Sea beach in Bangladesh. The beautiful scenery of Inani sea beach is not only popular in our country, but also all over the world. The Coordinates of the beach are 21°35'N 92°01'E in the Division: Chittagong Division and the District is also Cox's Bazar District of Upazila Cox's Bazar Sadar. Inani Beach is the beautiful Sea beach which is in Ukhia Thana of Cox’s Bazar District. It is about 32 Km. to the south of Cox’s Bazar beach and 18 Km. long. Inani Beach is considered as the world’s longest and broadest beach (180m at high tide and 300m at low tide).

Inani beach is famous for its rock and coral boulders and also blue water. It is also famous for its golden sand and shark free blue water. This shark free blue water is ideal for sunbathing and the blue water of the sea and lines of stones makes the site attractive to the tourists. You can bath on the sea beach during high tidal sea because the beach is very wide, clam and surrounded by coral boulders. If you stand on the coral stones during bathing it’s looking as you are now standing on the midst sea and this scene is very interesting to the tourists. The Chittagong Commonwealth War Cemetery: 

The Chittagong Commonwealth War Cemetery is situated at Dampara, Badshah Miah Chowdhury Road, Chittagong, which is a memorable burial place for members of the armed forces who died during 2nd world war. This cemetery consists of about 755 burials were soldiers from United Kingdom-378, Canada-25, Australia-09, New Zealand-02, Undivided India-214, East Africa-11. This cemetery is nourished by the Commonwealth Grave Commission. Now it has become a tourist spot and every year many Foreign and local people visit the cemetery and show respect to them. Zia Memorial Museum: 

Zia Memorial Museum is situated on the Shahid Saifuddin Khaled Road, Chittagong the port city of Bangladesh. Zia was one of the most remembered war heroes and politicians and president in the history of Bangladesh. The building of the Zia Memorial Museum is previously known as old circuit house. The museum established in 1993 and is consists of 12 galleries which consist of personal belongings, the actual microphone and transmitter over which the president delivered his Declaration of Independence speech, the table and chair from where he ruled Bangladesh.

Ethnological Museum: 

Ethnological Museum is situated at Agrabad, Sea Beach, which is the only Ethnological Museum in Bangladesh. It is one of the most cultural enriching attractions of Chittagong. Daughter of Sea – Kuakata

Today we discuss about another longest sea beach in Bangladesh. It is known as the name of Daughter of Sea Kuakata. Because Kuakata is also called the daughter of the sea. The Coordinates are 22°49′0″N 89°33′0″E, Country: Bangladesh, Division: Khulna Division and District: Khulna District. Kuakata is one of the most beautiful places in Bangladesh. This beautiful place located in the southern part of Bangladesh. It has 30 kilometers long beach which is situated at the Lotachapli union of Kalapara Thana. Kalapara is the sub district of Patuakhali district of Barishal division. This beach is 70 km’s far away from Patuakhali Sadar and 320 km’s far away from Dhaka city.

The relation between sea and sand is forever. At the tide time, the sea goes far away from the sand and this temporary separation the sand is colored white. And without this time sand get back his life by the touch of the sea and also colored mud. The Daughter of Sea - Kuakata is one of the sea beaches where one can see both the sunrise and sunset. In the Kuakata one can also travel the Fatra Forest, Jhau Forest, Gangamati and some Buddhist Temples etc. One can also enjoy the sun rising and the sun setting here.

Fatra Forest:

This Forest is near at Kuakata Beach which is the extended part of Sundarbans Forest. It is about an hour boat journey from Kuakata sea beach. In this Forest you can see many animals like monkey, Bagdas, Jackals etc. you can also see different types of birds. You can watch big tide like 30 feet at highest and it is thrilling how the fisherman avoid these waves. Fatra Forest is the one of Eco Park that built by the government of Bangladesh. Coconut garden means ‘narikel bagan’ in Bengali language. Kuakata coconut garden is a beautiful place for visiting which is situated at the eastern side of the Kuakata sea beach and you can reach there by only a few minutes walking. You can see there many coconut trees. The local people say that the tree's age is more than forty years old. Once a time there has many coconut trees, but the in recent decades the number of trees decreases because of the strong waves of the sea touching the garden and destroy the front side trees. This place also attracts the tourists come to visit the Kuakata sea beach.

Sun Rising:

Rising Sun is the main attraction of Kuakata. One can be able to visible best sight of the sun rising from a Kauar Char area of Gangamoti. Kauar Char is the eastern part of Kuakata beach. Every morning many visitors gather here to enjoy this beauty. When the light of the sun falls in the sea during rising moment this scenery is very attractive to the tourists. In the Gangamati reserved forest you can see the beautiful forest which is situated at the patuakhali region and the east of Jhau Forest. It is only one hour journey from Sundarban by speed boat and the best way to reach the forest from Kuakata by motorcycle along the beach which is very attractive to the tourists. In this forest one can also see different types of birds, isolated big trees, sands, etc. It provides you a chance of seeing an evergreen miniature mangrove forest.

In the winter the sea remains calm, quiet and during bathing time you can play with the waves in the sea, which is very attractive and interesting for the tourists. In the full moon night or moonless night medium size waves are found. In the high tide the sea is full of water, but in the low tide it becomes lifeless. You can also catch fish like as Hilsha which is the national fish of Bangladesh during the rainy season when they come to visit river from the sea. You may also visit Buddhist Temple in the Kuakata like as Misri para Buddhist Temple where containing a statue of Goutom Budhdha, is also a beautiful tourist spot. Two 200 years old wells are also present in the vicinity, Kerani Para Seema Mandir, which is a Buddhist temple and many Buddhist devotees from nearby areas come here and pray for them. During the "Rash Purnima" and "Maghi Purnima" Hindu and Buddhist devotees arrive here for a celebration and usually fairs are also arranged.

You can go to kuakata by Launch or Bus. By launch:Dhaka to Patuakhali, Starting time: 5:30, 6:30 and 7:00 pm & arrival time: 6 AM next morning. Launch Name: Sundarban, Saikat, Sattar Khan, Achol etc. Rent: Deck-150 Taka, For Cabin - 350 Taka (Single), 600 Taka (Double), 700 Taka (Family), 1500 Taka (VIP-AC). Then you can go to Kuakata beach by direct/Local bus. The Local bus per seat rent cost is 60 taka & The Direct bus per seat rent cost is 80 taka.
