Khagrachari

Khagrachari is the natural wild beauty of Bangladesh. Khagrachari is the south-eastern district of Bangladesh. Khagrachari is the best place to travel. By traveling there you can get mind refreshment and also enjoy the beauty of the nature. Everyday lots of tourist come to visit this beautiful and attractive Khagrachari. The Coordinates of Khagrachari is 23.0417°N 91.9944°E, A drive of 112 Km. from Chittagong & 280 km. from Dhaka, by an all-weather asphalt road through the green forest brings one to Khagrachari, abode of fascinating calm. For the tourists seeking nature in restful mood, Khagrachari is an ideal spot. It has mainly three rivers namely Chengi, Kasalong and Maini. There are many tourist spots in the Khagrachari District. We will discuss about all of those traveling places of Khagrachari. But today will discuss briefly about alutila hill and cave and risarng fall.

Alutila hill & Cave: Alutila hill is one of the most beautiful places of Khagrachari. It is situated at the entrance of Khagrachari. The height of alutila is near about 3000 fit from the ground. In the age of 2nd world war departure, people came here to collect potato for feeding themselves. From that time it was named as Alutila. There is a cave in this tila. It’s called Alutila cave. The length of the cave is 250 fit. To across the cave it takes 10 to 15 minutes. Entry fee of this cave is 5 taka only. You can also enjoy the natural beauty to travel this place. Beautiful Apu Waterfall: Apu fall is those types of waterfalls where a small number of people went. But it is very close to Richhang waterfall in Khagrachari. Goddess Pond: It is also known as “Debotar Pukur”. The local name of Goddess pond is “Matail Pukri”. It is a beautiful pond on top of a hill which is situated around 864 feet from sea level. To reach this pond you have to cross 4 hills. New Zealand: An interesting place in khagrachari with interesting name – New Zealand. Normally it is a café with some munchies. There are also some paddy fields on the either side. Decoration of this restaurant is very simple. There is also a kid's zone which is really excellent but so simple. In this café they used to serve food so quickly and you will have seen the local farmers were planting the paddy. New Zealand is not far from the main town. So you can visit this beautiful place. Khagrapur temple: Khagrapur temple is the oldest temple in the Khagrachari district. It is the most attractive travelling places to the tourist. Laxmi-Narayan temple: this temple is dedicated to the Hindu god Lakshmi Narayan which is located in the Khagrachari district. Really it so beautiful place to travel. You can pass an interesting time in your life when you travel this place. If you want to visit this temple firstly you have to reach in Chittagong or Khagrachari. Then straight go to the temple. It is also one of the oldest temples in the Khagrachari district. Every year lots of tourist come to visit this temple. Fulkoli elephant grave: Fulkoli is the name of an elephant. The owner of this elephant is the DC of Khagrachari in that time. In 1990 this elephant fall down from Alutila hill and it was died. It’s grave is situated besides on the zero point.

Risarng Fall: Risarng fall is another traveling place of Khagrachari. To reach here you have to go first risarng or member Para bus stand about 10 km east from Khagrachari. From the market the fall is about 2 km walking distance. It is in the matirangga union. The height of the fall is 100 fit from the ground. Risarng fall is the most beautiful water fall in the Bangladesh. You can pass an interesting time in your life when you travel this place. You can also enjoy the natural beauty to travel this place. King Mong’s house: The house of king Mong is on the Mahalchari Road which is about 2 km from the town. The 9th king Saching Pru is the new owner of this house. Number 10 banyan Tree: The age of this tree is more than 100 years. It is in the Matiranga Union. This Banyan tree is about 22 km from the Khagrachari town. You can go there by motorbike from the Khagrachari town or Matiranga Union. House of Manikchari Mong king: This house is about 36 km from main town. It is the most beautiful place to travel. Everyday a lot of tourists come to visit this Royal house.

Mahamoni Buddhist Temple: Mahamoni Buddhist Temple is situated at top the Mohamoni hill which is so close to Manikchari Royal house. The king Nee Pru built this beautiful Buddhist temple. It is one of the oldest and gorgeous Buddhist temples in the Bangladesh. 82 Altitudes: It is situated at Tabalchari which is the southern part of Matiranga Union. A beautiful lake is besides on the Altitudes. You can pass an interesting time in your life when you travel this place. Shahid Minar: This monument built in 2004 beside the Ramgarh border. Dighinala forest: you can go this forest from Dighinala Bazar by Auto rickshaw or CNG. It has taken 10 or 15 minutes. The total area of this forest is 18 acres. The greatest saint Banabhante came here in 1962. Here he made the Pursuit of 12 years.

Oronno kutir: Panchari Shantipur Oronno kutir is situated about 30 km north from main town in 1999. You can go there from Khagrachari town by CNG or Cader Gari. Beraz or water dam: you can see this water dam on way of Panchari Shantipur Oronno kutir. Hanging bridge: Hanging Bridge is situated in the Dighinala Upazila. It is about 24 km from Khagrachari. This bridge made in 1990 on the Maini River. It is about 20 minute’s road distance from the Dhinala Army camp. Marissha: you can travel there by bus or Chader Gari from Khagrachari.

Shiv Chari fall-1: Shiv Chari fall is the wonderful tourist spot in the Bangladesh. To go there you have to reach Dighinala Bazar. Then about 25 minute in motor able road. After that you have to cross a small river to reach this fall. Really it is a very beautiful place. You can also enjoy a memorable day in your life by traveling there. Shiv fall-2: This fall is very close to Shiv Chari fall-1. To visit Shiv fall-2 is so much risky because to go there you have to cross hilly road which is so much dangerous to walk. It is also a perfect place to travel. Silachori cave: This cave is in Lakkhichari Thana. It is one of the most attractive tourist spot in Bangladesh. Haja chara/ Thangzang fall: you can see this waterfall in Dighinala to Sajek road after crossing 10 no Army Camp. It is about 12km from Dighinala sub-district. There are so many road directions for your easy traveling. Roloi Para: Roloi Para is a wonderful village like as Sajek which in Rangamati district. It is 1800 ft. high from the sea level. This para or colony was built in1885. You can visit this village for your refreshment. Tribal people are live in this village. You can also capture some gorgeous photo in the Roloi Para village. During festivals you can enjoy the cultural program.

Shijuk/ nondaram fall-1: It is situated at Sajek union in Rangamati district. You have to tracking 6 or 7 hours to reach Shijuk fall. In way you will see many beautiful places like as hills, lake and Long field and so on. You can catch fish in the fall. For easy traveling the better solution is guide. You can also find many tourist guides in the Nandaram village. You can pass an interesting time in your life when you travel this place. To travel Shijuk fall one must reserve Chader Gari from Khagrachari or Dighinala. Shijuk/ nondaram fall-2: This fall also situated in the Nandaram village at Sajek union. Sajek is the biggest union in the Rangamati district. Shijuk or Nandaram water fall-2 is near to the Shijuk-1. So you can enjoy and visit two falls by traveling this place.

Kolongk Para: Kolongk Para is the last village in the Sajek which is the biggest union in the Bangladesh. To reach Kolongka Para you have to cross Sajek BGB Camp. Lushai people also lived there. The head man of this population is Caumingthai Lushai. The Indian hill Lushai can be seen clearly from Kolongk Para village. From this hill the beautiful and gorgeous River Karnaphuli originates. Sometimes BGB can’t give permission to entry this village for tourist safety. Cause there is no BGB Camp in Kolongk Para village. The Sajek BGB Camp is the last BGB Camp. How to go:

One can go Khagrachari by bus from Dhaka. The buses are Shyamoli Paribahan, Hanif, Shanti paribahan etc. The rent Hanif or Shyamoli bus will be 520 (+/-). The last destination of Shanti paribahan bus service is Dighi nala bus stop. The rent will be 580 (+/-) of this bus service. There are also St. Martin's paribahan, BRTC bus services.

Where to stay:

The hotels of Khagrachari are Khagrachari projoton motel, Giri Thebra, hotel ecosori international, hotel shoilo shoborn etc. Each room contains two beds in every motel. Rent: AC-2100 taka and Non AC-1300 taka. Giri Thebra is another motel which is in the Khagrachari Cantonment. Civil people can also stay here. All the rooms of this motel are Air conditioned. Two VIP rooms are available here and rent 3050 taka. The rent of double room is 2050 taka and single room is 1200 taka.

Now a day Alutila hill & cave and Risarng fall have become very attractive traveling zone to the tourists. It is too easy to go these two places from Khagrachari. Bandarban is a hilly city. This hilly city located, 9 km south-east from Chittagong. Unrestricted greenery and natural beauty, it seems the hills want to touch the cloud. You can visit in the daughter of the mountain, Bandarban. The earth location of Bandarban is 21°48′N 92°24′E. Bandarban district is the part of Chittagong Division. It is the South-Eastern district in Bangladesh. It is also one of the parts of Chittagong Hill Tracts. Bandarban is the most attractive traveling place in the Bangladesh. In our previous post we have discuss about Bandarban shortly. Now we will discuss about Bandarban briefly to give you a good guide lines and proper solution about Bandarban.

There is a legend about the naming of Bandarban district. Common forms words of the residents of this area are many monkeys once lived here. The monkeys at the entrance to the city folk come to the mountain side, constantly eat salt. Lake water is due to the growth of the rain. This rhyme fringe group of monkeys cannot go to the mountain. Could not go, they hold each other in rows along the fringe of the rhyme. Rhyme crossing monkey saw this view of people in this city. This time, this place came to be known as "myaakachi rhyme". In Marma myaaka means monkeys and chi means dam.

Over time, the name of this form of Bengali speaking accent was as Bandarban. However, the actual name of the district in Marma "RDA kyaoci MRO". During the period of British rule in 1860, the district was declared the Chittagong Hill Tracts. At that time it was under the district of Chittagong Hill Tracts. As of 1900, the Chittagong Hill Tracts of Chittagong Hill Tracts Regulation is divided into three circles Chakma Circle, Mong Circle, and Bohmong circle. Bandarban district administration started in 1951 as a subdivision. It was an administrative unit of Rangamati district. Later on April 18, 1981, Former Lama geographical and administrative boundaries of the subdivision, including the seven sub-district of Bandarban Hill District as the debut. Visiting places of Bandarban:

Nilgiri: Nilgiri is one of the main attractions to the travelers for travel. Nilgiri means "Blue Mountain". Nilgiri is one of the most beautiful traveling places of Bangladesh. Every year lots of travelers travel this beautiful place. It is highest mountain in Basngladesh. It is situated at Thanchi Upazila which is about 48 Km South-East of Bandarban district on Chimbuk Range at a height of 2400 feet from sea level. The nilgiri is surrounded by clouds and beautiful natural views in maximum time. When you reach the top of the mountain you feel that the cloud embraces yourself and you can touch the cloud there which is very interesting and attractive to the tourists. You can stay at night because there have many cottages. The rent fee of these cottages starts from BDT 5000 to BDT 12000. Traveling to this place will be a great experience of your entire life.

Golden Temple: Golden Temple is a beautiful spot for travel. Buddhist dhatu jadi is called as the largest Buddhist temple in Bangladesh which is also known as golden temple due to temples colour is golden. But the temple is locally well known as Kyang. This is another beautiful traveling place of Bandarban. The temple consists of the second largest Buddha statue in Bangladesh. The Buddha Dhatu Jadi temple attracts pilgrims and tourists in all over the world. It is situated at Pulpara 4 kilometer from close to Balaghata town, and 10 kilometer from in the remote Bandarban City. If you travel this place you can get a good guide lines about the life style of this place. 

Meghla Park and Milonchori Hill side Resort: Meghla park the most beautiful traveling or visited spot for the tourists who travel from all over the country. Tourist can easily travel to this spot than other sites of Bandarban because the communication system of Meghan is smooth. Boat Journey, Mini Zoo and Hanging Bridge etc. attract the tourists very much. This spot is only about 4 km from the town on the road to Keranihat. Shoilo Propat fall: This is one of the most famous and visited natural fall of Bangladesh. Shoilo Propat is situated at Milanchari which is about 8km away from Bandarban town on the Bandarban Ruma road. It is another traveling spot of Bandarban. This fall is a good source for drinking water and household use for the local people and the water is very cool and transparent. There is a small market near the Shoilo Propat for trade local people handicrafts, handloom products and food which is very attractive to the tourists. If anyone travels this place he or she can get a good guide lines about this place and can get knowledge about the life style of the place. 

Nilachol: If you want to watch the whole Bandarban city at a glance you need to go Nilachol which is one of the most popular tourist spots in Bandarban. The height of the Nilachol is 2000 feet from the surface. During rainy season you play with cloud here which is very interesting to the tourists. But when the sky is clear you watch the Chittagong port from here. The sight of sunset from here is very beautiful. The natural beauty of Nilachol attracts the tourist very much and that’s why Nilachol is called by many people "Darjeeling of Bangla" which is located at tiger para only about 5 Km away from the city.

Chimbuk Hill and Sangu River: Chimbuk hill is the third highest mountain in Bangladesh which is one of the most popular tourist spot in Bandarban and the height of this mountain is about 2800 meters from the sea level. It is just 26 kilometer away from Bandarban sadar. Tourists enjoy the journey because the road of this area is zigzag. You can also play with cloud here like nilgiri but when it is a shiny day, you can see the shades of clouds over the hills. The huge horizons of zigzag hills seem waves of a sea. The Sangu River is a river in Myanmar and Bangladesh. Its source is in the North Arakan Hills of Myanmar. It enters the Bandarban district from the east and flows west across the district and finally falls into the Bay of Bengal at the end of a course of 270 km. It is an important route to communicate with Ruma and Thanci Upazilla.

Tajingdong Hill and Keokaradang Hill: Tandingdong hill is very beautiful travel spot to the tourist. Tajingdong Hill is the top most hills of Bangladesh which is also known as ‘Bijoy’. It is about 1310 meters high from the sea level. In according to local tribal language “Tajing” means “Great” &“Dong” means “Hill” so it means “Great hill”. Tajindong located at Ramakri of Pangsha Union under Ruma Upazilla which is about 70 km away from Bandarban town. This natural beauty is surely attracts the mind of the adventurous people. During the winter season many adventurous tourist visit this place with great excitement. Another beauty of Bandarban is Keokaradong. Keokaradong is the second highest mountain and one of the most beautiful traveling spots of Bangladesh. Sometime officially it claimed as the highest peak of Bangladesh. Official height of this hill is 1230 meters and it is about 30km away from the Ruma Upazilla. This is the most popular hill of Bangladesh and become one of the most popular tourist spots of Bangladesh. You will pleased with the natural beauty of green hills, cool fountains, beauty of zigzag road, hide and seek game of clouds on the top of the hill. During winter season many adventure tourists gather here to enjoy this surprising beauty. 

Jadipai Falls and Boga Lake: Jadipai Falls is one of the widest water falls in Bangladesh and it is located at Ruma Upazila of Bandarban. The water of this fall is so cool and transparent. The flow of Jadipai fall becomes robust during the rainy season. This place is very attractive to the tourists. When you hear the sound of the water fall your mind refresh with joy. Boga Lake is also known as Bagakain Lake. Boga Lake is around 10 acres in size and situated 1800 feet from the sea level. The most wonderful point of this lake is it changes its colour from time to time. This sight is very attractive to the tourists and it is situated at Ruma Upazila in Bandarban. 

Mirinja Tourist Complex and Prantik Lake: Mirinja Tourist Complex is about 1500 feet high from sea level which situated at Lama Upazilla of Bandarban. The Parjatan Corporation developed an attractive tourist spot in this complex. You can watch Maheskhali Island, Bay of Bengal, Matamuhuri River and Lama Upazilla at a glance from this complex. Prantik Lake located in a village named “Holudia” near the Keranihat-Bandarban Road. It is about 14km from Bandarban town. Lake is around 29 acres in size which is surrounded bymany kinds of plants and trees. This lake is nice place for fishing but for this you have to get permission from the authority and you can tour the lake by paddle boat. This amazing place will certainly attract tourist mind. The management authority of this lake is Local Government Engineering Department, Bangladesh.

Nafa-khum Falls: Nafa-khum fall is another beautiful traveling spot of Bangladesh. Nafa-khum Falls is the largest waterfall of Bangladesh and Bandarban by volume of water falling. The word "Khum" is a Marma language which means "Waterfall". The falls are located in a remote area three hours' walking distance from Remakri of Thanchi Upazil of Bandarban. Here you can find a special type of flying fish. The local name is nating and it is found at the bottom in a small cave as they swim against the stream but cannot jump over the height of the fall. This falls is very attractive traveling spot to the tourists. You can also visit Rujuk Falls and Ruma canal which is another most attractive place in Bandarban. These traveling places are very important to the travelers. Travel arrangements:

Firstly you can go from Dhaka to Chittagong by train or bus. Then straight go from Chittagong to Bandarban. Or you can go direct Bandarban from Dhaka. You can go directly Bandarban from Dhaka by non-AC buses. There are lots of busses like as S. Alam, Hanif, unique, etc. Those buses leave from Fakirapul counters and besides the railway station counters. There are two non-AC buses Purobi and Purbani leave from the Bahaddarhat terminal to go Bandarban. Those buses left after 30 minutes for Bandarban. Rent per: 70 to 80 BDT. For internal journey there are some transportation called “Chander Gari.”
