Cox’s Bazar Sea Beach

Cox’s Bazar is known for its wide and long clean sandy beach. It is also considered as the world’s longest natural sandy Sea beach. This attractive and sandy beach located on the southern part of Bangladesh. It is about 125 Km long. This beach is located 150 Km south of Chittagong. Cox’s Bazar the longest Sea beach is known by the name of “Panowa”. “Panowa” means “yellow flower”. It has another old name which was “Palongkee”. In 1799 “Hiram Cox” the British captain defeated the Burmese king in a battle and set up a Bazar (market) here which was named “Cox’s Bazar”.
The beach is the main attraction of Cox's Bazar. Every year a lot of tourists come to visit this beach because this beach is shark free and good for bathing, swimming and sunbathing. Your visiting Sea beach will not complete if you leave without riding speed boat, riding horses, playing football and taking photos of natural beauty. You can also collect snail, peace of small stone from the seashore. You can also enjoy the Sea beach traditions. There are so many attractive religious and historical events which make the city so colorful, gorgeous and joyous for tourists. Those are:
Aggmeda Khyang:
Aggmeda Khyang is a large Buddhist Temple located near the entrance to the Cox’s Bazar town. This temple is worshipped by thousands of Buddhists from the nearby areas. Inside the temple has a prayer chamber, assembly hall, small bronze Buddha images and a number of old manuscripts. The main prayer chamber is supported by columns that made from timber. The bronze Buddha images are collected and imported from Burma, Myanmar.
Himchari National Park:
Himchari National Park is a popular tourist places of Cox’s Bazar, which is located about 18 Km south of main Sea beaches. This National Park was established in 1980 by the Bangladesh government and the park is covered an area about 1,729 Hecters of land. This park is perfect for bird watchers because here have 286 species of Birds. There has habitat, flora and fauna about 55 species of mammals, birds 286 species, 13 species of amphibian, 56 species of reptiles, plants 117 species. The most attractive of Himchari is there has a beautiful waterfall which is a perfect for sunbathing.

Ramu:
Ramu is an Upazila of Cox's Bazar district. This upazila is especially famous for some beautiful Buddhist Temples. The Buddhist temples are Ranked Bonasram Buddha, Bihar, Saada Ching, Khying temple, Laal Ching etc. In this temple has many statues of Gautama Buddha made of gold, bronze and valuable stones. In Ramu has the South Asia’s largest coconut garden, a rubber garden, pagoda, etc. There also have some Hindu temples too. In Ramu the internal relationship between Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus and Rakhain is very good.
St. Martin’s Island:
St. Martin’s Island is one of the most tourist places in Bangladesh. This place is most attractive and interesting place for the tourists. St. Martin’s Island 9 Km south from Cox’s Bazar. St. Martin’s Island is covered about 8 square kilometers and it is the only coral island in Bangladesh. This park is also known as “Narikel Zinzira”. You can enjoy the natural beauty of the Bay of Bengal from here. Day by day St. Martin's visitor population has increased. Dulahazra Safari Park:
Dulahazra Safari Park is situated at Chakaria Upazila in Cox's Bazar District. The Park is the first safari park in Bangladesh which covered an area about 2,224 acres of land. The Dulahazara Safari Park is home to at least 4,000 animals of 165 species. When you enter the park you will find an orchid collection and a museum. Here you will find some domestic elephant which is available for riding and this is very attractive to the tourists. This park has many animals like Lions, Royal Bengal Tigers, Crocodiles, Bears, Chitals and lots of different types of birds and monkeys. During winter season more than 6000 tourists and during other seasons about 2000 tourists visit the Dulahazra Safari Park.
Maheshkhali:
Maheshkhali is an upazila under Cox’s Bazar district. The main attraction of Moheshkhali is Maheshkhali Island is located in the Bay of Bengal. Most of the tourists who come to visit Cox's Bazar sea beach also visit Maheshkhali Island. People reach there by engine boat or speed boat from Cox’s Bazar jetty and during this journey you can enjoy the beauty of the Bay of Bengal. The west and north are low lying areas randomly surrounded by mangrove forests. The scene is very attractive and it will be a good solution guide for your recreation. Except Maheshkhali Island you can visit Maheshkhali Adinath’s Shrine, Maheshkhali Buddhist Pagoda and some salt fields where salt farmers produce salt from sea water which is very interesting for the tourists.
Teknaf:
Teknaf is an Upazila under Cox’s Bazar district, which is about 84 Km away from Cox’s Bazar. Teknaf is situated at the bank of Naf River and the name ‘Teknaf’ comes from Naf River. This place is also an attractive tourist spot for its natural beauty. Tourist can enjoy a river journey by boat in Naf River and there they can enjoy the beauty of hills and green forests with wild animals which is very attractive to the tourists. In Teknaf tourists can enjoy the local market and it's known as Burmese market. There tourists will find all the Burmese and tribal hands made materials.
Sonadia Island:

Sonadia Island is located about 7 Km away from Cox’s Bazar and the Island covered about 9 Km2 areas. The western side of the island is sandy and various kinds of shells are available on the beach. Here tourist can find about 52 bird species, including native and non-native which attract the tourists very much. Since this island is famous for industry of dry fish many fisherman's camp here during winter season. You can enjoy the live fishing and fisherman's lifestyle here. There is no Rail connection up to Cox's Bazar but you can go up to Chittagong. Then by Bus or car you can go to Cox’s Bazar.
